UNBC welcoming high school students for SPARK Discovery Week

Highschool students in Prince George can spend a week gaining hands-on experience in science and engineering this summer.

From July 22nd to 26th, UNBC is hosting SPARK Discovery Week at the Prince George campus.

Students will have the opportunity to learn more about how a university lab operates, and gain experience to help them with their high school education, as well as prepare them for post-secondary.

“UNBC has state-of-the-art research laboratories, and this program allows young, enthusiastic minds to work with cutting edge-technology and equipment that they might not otherwise encounter until much later in their academic careers,” said School of Engineering Assistant Professor Dr. Chinchu Cherian.

“This early exposure can spark a deeper interest and understanding of different research fields within science and engineering. This networking can also open doors to the students for future academic and professional opportunities at UNBC.”

Interested high school students entering grades 10, 11, and 12  can apply online, and submit a brief expression of interest.
