Canada Day in the Park to host thousands on Monday

Prince George’s annual Canada Day celebration returns to Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park on Monday.

The long weekend will be capped off with a full day of entertainment, food, vendors, a kid’s zone, and (hopefully) sunshine.

The band shell will be a hive of activity throughout the day, here is the full schedule:

  • 11:00 a.m.    Welcome
  • 11:05 a.m.    Prince George Community Band
  • Noon:            Opening ceremonies         Greetings from Lheidli T’enneh Elder Edith Frederick, Chief Dolleen Logan, MP Todd Doherty, MP Bob Zimmer, and Mayor Simon Yu
  • 12:30 p.m.    Cake cutting sponsored by Save on Foods
  • 12:30 p.m.    Dragon dancers and flute  – Chinese Benevolent Society
  • 12:50 p.m.    Belly Dancing  – Zahirah Dance Studio – Troupe Zahira
  • 1:15 p.m.      Musician Ivan Paquette
  • 1:40 p.m.      Khast’an Drummers
  • 2:05 p.m.      Dancers   – Excalibur Theatre Arts
  • 2:30 p.m.      Musicians Rogers & Sargent  (Canadiana)
  • 2:55 p.m.      Bollywood Dream Dancers
  • 3:15 p.m.      UHNBC Drum Group
  • 3:40 p.m.      Highland Dancing  –  Twasome Highland Troupe & Lorna Carbutt School of Dance
  • 4:05 p.m.      Opera Singers  –  Fraser Lyric Opera

The kids’ zone will be equipped with bounce houses, games, and a chess zone.

The event runs from 11:00 – 6:00 on Monday, July 1st.

There will not be a firework show to end Canada Day due to a category 2 fire ban in the Prince George Fire Zone.
