NHL:

Round one of the NHL Draft will be held tonight (Friday 4:30) in Las Vegas with the remaining rounds set for Saturday.

Prince George Cougars sniper Terik Parascak is in Vegas anxiously waiting which team selects him.

Parascak, who led all CHL rookies in points this past season, is listed 15th among North American skaters in the Central Scouting final rankings.

Two of his teammates are also ranked; Ondrej Becher is 69th and Hunter Laing is 86th.

Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche is the MVP of the NHL capturing both the Hart Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award.

MacKinnon finished the regular season second in the NHL with 140 points (51 goals, 89 assists) in 82 games.

Quinn Hughes became the first player on the Vancouver Canucks to win the James Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman.

CFL:  (Week 4)

B.C. Lions  24  Edmonton Elks  21

Sean Whyte kicked a 42-yard field goal on the final play of the game for the 3-1 Lions.

The Elks start their season 0-4.

The Lions next game will be Sunday, July 7th in Hamilton.

Friday Night Football in the CFL has (3-0) Montreal at (2-0) Toronto (4:30 kickoff).

PG Senior Men’s Lacrosse—(Final game of the regular season)

Bandits  15  Mackenzie  5   (Thursday)

Semifinals will start on Wednesday with the Bandits playing the Assault.

Fastball:

The annual John Cho Cup fastball tournament runs today (Friday) to Sunday.

Games are in Spruce City Stadium and the adjacent fields at Carrie Jane Gray Park.

It features 35 teams, the majority are from Western Canada as well as a ranked team from Agoura Hills, California.

The winner of the Men’s Open Division will qualify for the International Softball Congress Championships in Surrey at Softball City August 10-17.
