PG police reward local boy following act of kindness

Mounties from Prince George RCMP paused to recognize a young boy for an act of kindness and bravery that occurred last week at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

While on a fieldtrip with his class, 7-year-old Parker Evans witnessed a small child who appeared to be distressed.

Parker approached the child and asked where their parent was. When the child indicated they didn’t know, and Parker could not see anyone close by, he brought the child to his teacher.

Together, the three of them located the small child’s mother nearby.

“We wanted to recognize Parker for his kindness, bravery and leadership. The park was very busy that day and it would have been easy for a young boy to be solely involved in playing with his class. When Parker noticed the distressed child and acted to help, bringing the child to a trusted adult, that shows amazing leadership and bravery that we believed needed to be awarded,” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

Members of the Community Policing Unit attended Parker’s class on Wednesday (June 26th) and presented him with a certificate of recognition, his very own “police notebook” and a Victim Services Challenge Coin (along with a few treats!).
