NHL:

Prince George Cougars sniper Terik Parascak is in Las Vegas for the 2024 NHL Draft which will be held Friday (4:30 PM) and Saturday (8:30 AM).

Parascak, who led all CHL rookies in points this past season, is listed 15th among North American skaters in the Central Scouting final rankings.

Two of his teammates are also ranked; Ondrej Becher is 69th and Hunter Laing is 86th.

CFL:

Week 4 of the CFL season kicks off tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 when the (2-1) B.C. Lions host the (0-3) Edmonton Elks.

The Lions are 2nd in the West Division, two points behind the (3-0) Saskatchewan Roughriders.

NBA:

In the NBA draft, the Atlanta Hawks selected 19 yr old Zachary Risacher with the 1st overall pick. The Raptors would take at Ja’Kobe Walter from Baylor University with their pick (19th) . The 6-4 guard averaged over 14 pts and 4 rebounds his freshman year.

Fastball:

The annual John Cho Cup fastball tournament runs Friday to Sunday.

Games will be held at Spruce City Stadium and the adjacent fields at Carrie Jane Gray Park.

It will feature 35 teams, the majority are from Western Canada as well as a ranked team from Agoura Hills, California.

The winner of the Men’s Open Division will qualify for the International Softball Congress Championships in Surrey at Softball City August 10-17.

MLB:

The Toronto Blue Jays game Wednesday night in Boston was suspended in the 2nd inning due to severe weather.

It will be resumed August 26th with the game tied 0-0 in the 2nd inning.

The (36-43) Jays start an 8-game homestand tonight (Thursday 4:10) against the AL East leading New York Yankees.
