Florida Panthers 2 Edmonton Oilers 1
The Panthers are Stanley Cup champions for the first time, taking the series 4-3.
Sam Reinhart snapped a 1-1 tie with 4:49 left in the 2nd period.
Carter Verhaeghe assisted on the winner and had the other Florida goal.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves as Edmonton outshot Florida 24-21.

Oilers Captain Connor McDavid captured the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
He is just the sixth player in NHL history to win that award but not the Stanley Cup.
The 27-year-old McDavid had 42 points in the playoffs, (none in the last two games) 4th best all-time, behind Wayne Gretzky (47 points, 1984-85), Mario Lemieux (44 points, 1990-91) and Gretzky (43 points, 1987-88).
Results of the first six games in the series: Florida won 3-0, 4-1 and 4-3 before the Oilers won the next three games 8-1, 5-3 and 5-1.

The 2024 NHL Draft will be held in Las Vegas on Friday (starting at 4:30 PM) and Saturday (beginning at 8:30 AM).
Three forwards with the Prince George Cougars are listed in the Central Scouting final rankings: Terik Parascak is 15th, Ondrej Becher is 69th and Hunter Laing 86th among North American skaters.

WHL schedule:
The Prince George Cougars will play 25 of their 34 home games on a weekend in the 2024-25 WHL regular season.
The league released its schedule today (Tuesday) that has nearly 80 per cent of its 748 games on weekends or holidays.

The Cougars have 12 home games on a Friday, another 12 on a Saturday, one on a Sunday (Nov 10th, part of a long weekend), six on a Tuesday and three on a Wednesday.
The Cougars do not have any home games on a Monday or a Thursday.
They start at home September 20th against Spokane and conclude at home six months later on March 22nd vs. Victoria.
Their longest home-stand is six games which is in November.
The Cougars will play 32 games of their 68 games inside their own B.C. Division: 8 each against Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna and Vancouver.

The P.G. Cougars will play four preseason games, none of them in P.G.
The Cougars face the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sept 7th and 8th in Edson, Alberta.
They also meet the Blazers twice, September 13th in Kamloops and Saturday, September 14th at the West Fraser Centre in Quesnel.

UNBC Timberwolves:
The Canada West soccer schedule is out.
The UNBC Timberwolves will play 16 regular season games in the men’s division starting August 23rd at Fraser Valley.
The UNBC men will have their home opener August 30th against Victoria, the start of a six-game homestand.
The UNBC women have a 14-game schedule that will start September 6th at Mount Royal.
Their home opener goes September 13th against Thompson Rivers (TRU).
The Timberwolves regular season for both the men and women will end on the October 19th weekend.

The TWolves men begin play in Abbotsford against UFV on August 23. The home opener goes one week later on August 30 against Victoria.
