PG Spruce Kings:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have announced that their 2024-25 BCHL regular season home opener will be on Friday, September 27th against the Coquitlam Express.

The Spruce Kings home schedule at the Kopar Memorial Arena consists of nine games on a Friday, 13 on a Saturday, three Sunday afternoon at 3:00 and one on a Wednesday night.

The Spruce Kings will compete in the Coastal East Division (formally called the Mainland) along side the Chilliwack Chiefs, Coquitlam Express Langley Rivermen and defending champion Surrey Eagles.

NHL: 

The Stanley Cup Final returns to Edmonton for Game 6 Friday night (puck drop about 5:15).

The Florida Panthers lead the Oilers 3-2, although Edmonton has won the last two games by scoring a total of 13 goals.

Since the third period of Game 3, Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has allowed 11 goals on 39 shots.

Connor McDavid has eight points in his last two games which is an NHL record for the most points in a 2-game span in the Stanley Cup Final.

The 27-year-old McDavid has 42 points in the playoffs, 4th best all-time, behind Wayne Gretzky (47 points, 1984-85), Mario Lemieux (44 points, 1990-91) and Gretzky (43 points, 1987-88).

Results in the series: Florida won 3-0, 4-1 and 4-3 before the Oilers won the next two games 8-1 and 5-3.

A couple of NHL trades that included a goalie in each deal.

The Calgary Flames sent Jacob Markstrom to the New Jersey Devils for 23-year-old defenseman Kevin Bahl and a 2025 first-round pick, which is top-10 protected.

The Washington Capitals dealt Darcy Kuemper to the Los Angeles Kings for forward Pierre-Luc Dubois.

 

PG Cougars:

The 2024 NHL Draft will be held in Las Vegas on Friday, June 28th (starting at 4:30 PM) and Saturday the 29th (beginning at 8:30 AM).

Three forwards with the Prince George Cougars are listed in the Central Scouting final rankings: Terik Parascak is 15th, Ondrej Becher is 69th and Hunter Laing 86th among North American skaters.

Boston Red Sox  7  Toronto Blue Jays  3

The (40-35) Red Sox swept the 3-game series.

The (35-39) Blue Jays start a 6-game road trip Friday night (4:10) in Cleveland.

CFL: 

Week 3 of the CFL season begins tonight (Thursday 4:30) with (1-0) Ottawa at (2-0) Montreal.

The (1-1) B.C. Lions visit the (0-2) Winnipeg Blue Bombers Friday night at 5:30.
