Late night fire extinguished at North Star Inn

A fire at the North Star Inn was put out just after 3:00 on Sunday morning (June 16).

Four halls responded to the fire at the multi-unit Victoria Street building, where they discovered thick black smoke coming from one of the units.

There was one person inside the unit, they were asleep until the fire alarm woke them up. They were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

Damage was contained to the single unit and is estimated at $5,000.

Crews determined the fire was caused by “smoker’s materials.”
