NHL:

After a two day break, the Stanley Cup Final is back on tonight (Thursday 5:00) with Game 3 in Edmonton.

The Florida Panthers lead the Oilers 2-0 having outscored Edmonton by a total of 7-1.

The Panthers won 4-1 on Monday.

Florida won the the opener on Saturday 3-0.

PG Spruce Kings:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have a new goalie.

Carter Wishart (’05), from Chaska Minnesota, has committed to the Spruce Kings for the 2024/2025 season.

The 6’1, 172-pound Wishart spent the last two seasons In the North American Hockey League with the Chippewa Steel.

He is committed to Colgate University to play NCAA Division I hockey following his junior career.

 

PG Cougars:

The 2024 NHL Draft will be held on June 28th (starting at 4:30 PM) and 29th (beginning at 8:30 AM) in Las Vegas.

Sniper Terik Parascak of the Prince George Cougars is 15th among North American skaters in the Central Scouting final rankings.

His teammates Ondrej Becher and Hunter Laing are listed 69th and 86th respectively.

 

CFL: 

Week 2 of the CFL season begins tonight (Thursday 4:30) with (0-1) Winnipeg at (0-0) Ottawa.

The (0-1) B.C. Lions entertain the (1-0) Calgary Stampeders Saturday (4:00 PM) in their home opener.

NBA: (3rd game in the best of 7 championship series)

Boston Celtics  106  Dallas Mavericks  99

The Celtics lead 3-0 and will go for a sweep Friday night (5:30) with Game 4 in Dallas.

NBA teams that lead a series 3-0 are a perfect 156-0.

Basketball Hall of Fame player and executive Jerry West has passed away at age 86.

West was an All-Star every year of his career and led the LA Lakers to the NBA Finals nine times, winning one title in 1971-72.

UNBC Timberwolves:

Longtime NHL executive Brian Burke is coming to Prince George.

Burke will be the keynote speaker during the 10th annual UNBC Timberwolves Legacy Night on November 21st at the Civic Centre.

Since its inception, the Legacy Night has helped raise more than $740,000 for
scholarships and bursaries for UNBC student-athletes.

Tickets go on sale starting September 6th.
