Environment Canada has upgraded the thunderstorm watch to a thunderstorm warning.
According to Environment Canada, they are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain.
They say the area of storms is about 20 km west of Prince George, and is moving northward at about 30 km/h.
Due to the slow moving nature of the storm, local rainfall amount could exceed 25 millimetres after the storms have passed.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Prince George area.
According to Environment Canada, conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.
They advise heavy downpours could cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Environment Canada’s seven-day forecast shows the risk is for later this afternoon.
