BC Highway Patrol investigating collision in Clinton claiming one life

A fatal collision involving a commercial vehicle is being investigated by BC Highway Patrol.

Clinton RCMP responded to a report of a collision on Highway 97 south of Clinton on Monday afternoon (June 4) at 12:42, the incident involved a northbound taxi and a southbound delivery truck.

Corporal Melissa Jongema says the taxi passenger had passed away, with the taxi driver transported to hospital in critical condition, and the truck driver also transported to hospital with injuries.

“The Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service attended the scene and they are investigating.”

Highway 97 was closed, north of 26 Mile Frontage Road, with DriveBC confirming the reopening just before 8:30pm.

Anyone who witnessed or who have dash cam footage of the collision is asked to contact BC Highway Patrol – Kamloops at 250-828-3111 ext.2, and refer to file 2024-1918.
