A new portal to connect health researchers has been created by UNBC students, faculty and staff.
The team created the Health Research Institute, a cloud-based databank which enables researchers to easily find others with similar interests at UNBC, in the North, and beyond.
“The purpose of membership in the HRI is to provide a means for researchers and their partners to join together to further research and innovation,” said HRI Manager Leana Garraway.
“HRI Connect is a great tool to facilitate members networking and facilitating connections, providing an online database for researchers to set up a profile, showcase their research interests, and make connections with others.
The portal was created in Dr. Waqar Haque’s Business Intelligence Research Group lab.
Eight UNBC graduate and undergraduate students worked on the project over an 18-month development period.
Garraway said there’s been good feedback so far.
“We do need to do more work getting it out there,” she said.
“It’s a really great tool for our members, but it’s also a great tool for the HRI to help communicate with out members.”
Garraway said current members include UNBC, Northern Health, and some other community organizations around the North.
