It’s been a hay day in the Prince George area…. literally.
Prince George 4H District Key-Leader, Carlene Kerr says while many areas like Vancouver Island have been facing a hay shortage, the same cannot be said in the Prince George area.
“Because we are one few places that have had great hay we have now been selling our hay in Prince George and area we are now sold out of hay.”
Kerr adds farmers were able to get hay crops in rather early and even a little bit more.
“The crop is pretty much done and taken off, a lot of people even got a little bit of a second crop there will probably be some grain and silage crops for those who have cattle but when it comes to hay crops if you don’t have your hay by now we might have a bit of a shortage.”
Places like Fraser Lake, Vanderhoof and Prince George recorded good hay crops this year.
