WHL:

The Prince George Cougars have announced they will open their 2024-25 regular season at home on Friday, September 20th against the Spokane Chiefs in the first of a doubleheader.

The Cougars swept the Chiefs in the first round of this year’s WHL playoffs.

The full WHL schedule is expected to be released the week of June 24th.

100 junior players from around the world including, forwards Terik Parascak and Ondrej Becher of the Prince George Cougars, are participating this week at the 2024 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo.

The Combine gives all 32 NHL teams physical and medical assessments of the top prospects ahead of this year’s draft which will be held June 28 and 29 in Las Vegas.

Parascak is ranked 15th and Becher 69th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the draft.


NHL:

The Stanley Cup Final will begin Saturday night in Florida with the Panthers home against the Edmonton Oilers.

Game 2 will also be played in Florida on Monday before the series shifts to Edmonton on Thursday and Saturday (June 13 and 15) of next week.

All games are scheduled to start just after 5:00.

Former Prince George Cougars head coach Lane Lambert has been hired as an associate coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs under Craig Berube.

Lambert was fired as the New York Islanders head coach midway through the 2023-24 season and replaced with Patrick Roy.

The 59-year-old Lambert coached the P.G. Cougars from 2003 to 2005.

MLB:

Baltimore Orioles  10  Toronto Blue Jays  1

The Blue Jays are 28-32 after 60 games and in last place in the A.L. East. They are 2-3 on a 7-game homestand which continues tonight (Wednesday 4:07) against the (39-20) Orioles.

PG Kodiaks:

The Prince George Kodiaks of the B.C. Football Conference have come to terms with quarterback Sawyer Thiessen, who played last season with the University of Manitoba Bisons.

The Kodiaks begin their third season in the league on July 20th when they host the VI Raiders.

NBA: 

The NBA Final will begin on Thursday (5:30 PM start time) with the Dallas Mavericks at the Boston Celtics.

Game 2 will also be played in Boston on Sunday before the series shifts to Dallas for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday, June 12th and Friday, June 14th.

CFL:

The CFL regular season kicks off Thursday with Montreal at Winnipeg (5:30 PM).

The B.C. Lions open on Sunday at Toronto (4:00 PM).

The Lions home opener is set for Saturday, June 15th against Calgary.
