Kodiaks in urgent need of billet families ahead of summer season

The Prince George Kodiaks’ season begins at home on July 20th against Vancouver Island.

According to Head Coach Jamie Boreham, over 90 players are coming to Prince George to play football as soon as Wednesday when training camp starts.

This means there are only two weeks left for billet families to sign up and welcome a player into their homes.

“We need to provide the opportunity and time to get everyone set up,” Boreham said. “We have four kids out of London – UK London. We can’t wait until last minute. Any support, any information, anything to help you make your decision, please reach out.”

If the team does not get enough billets, that means some of these players will not get to join the team in Prince George this season.

“It is a missed opportunity for a player and for us,” Boreham said. “If you are a billet, you get two seasons tickets. If you billet two kids you get four.”

Billets also get a discount card for Save On Foods.

“Other than the cool stuff you get, it is helping young kids play football, have school and work opportunities and chase their dream at the same time,” he added.

The team has also been selling tickets for their kickoff 50/50, if they sell out the grand prize will reach $250,000.

Tickets are being sold online (on their new website) and at pop-up booths around town.

“The money goes to help our youth programming in Prince George and northern BC, it is helping kids play sports,” Boreham said. “There is a misconception about what the Kodiaks are, we are a non-profit, community-run team. This 50/50 is a way to support our youth programing, make sure we have equipment for young kids 5-18.”

Nearly $10,000 in tickets have been sold so far.
