National Range Day events slated for Vanderhoof on Saturday

The Vanderhoof Rod and Gun Club is taking part in National Range Day.

Several family events are planned for Saturday as target ranges are typically offered for local fish and game club – these facilities are also used by local police departments while practicing their craft.

In addition, club members will be teaching safe firearms handling skills, run sharpshooting competitions and answer questions.

“Range day is a great opportunity for shooters and non-shooters alike to experience firearms in a safe and friendly environment,” said Cassy Premack, B.C. Wildlife Federation Region 5 President.

“Events are held the first Saturday of June and help make shooting sports accessible in our communities.”

The Vanderhoof-based event kicks off at 10am.

Other communities in the northwest and Cariboo regions participating in Range Day include Williams Lake and Smithers.
