BC’s Education Minister held a conference call today to discuss the upcoming school year.
Mike Bernier says the province ranks fairly high in educational outcomes in Canada, but admits more work still needs to be done.
“To ensure we have the best educational outcomes in our classrooms we are already ranked one of the top in the world here in British Columbia but it also means we have opportunities to keep on growing.”
Bernier adds in regards to funding for School Division 57 in Prince George, the amount varies on enrolment.
“Every district of course depends on student enrolment for that year.”
Projected enrolment for the Prince George School District this year is 12,577, a decline of 98 full-time students from the previous year.
The projected operating grant is estimated at 119 million dollars which is a one million dollar increase from last year.
