BC’s minimum wage jumps to $17.40 per hour on Saturday

Another pay bump is on the horizon for BC’s lowest-paid workers.

On Saturday, the minimum wage will increase to $17.40 an hour from 16.75. According to the province, the hike will assist 240-thousand workers in our province.

The nearly 4% spike also applies to minimum-wage rates for residential caretakers, live-in home support workers and camp leaders.

Agricultural piece rates increased on December 31st to ensure crop producers will not have to adjust wages in the middle of harvesting season.
