PG Cougars:

The Prince George Cougars have swapped forwards with the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Cougars acquired Oscar Lovsin (06) from the Tbirds for Arjun Bawa (05).

Lovsin, who turns 18 in September, had four points in 40 games in his rookie WHL season in 2023-24 with both Seattle and the Wenatchee Wild.

Bawa, who just turned 19 this month, notched five points in 57 games with Prince George.

Mark Lamb of the P.G. Cougars is one of three finalists for the CHL Coach of the Year award. The winner will be announced on June 1st during Memorial Cup week.

 

Memorial Cup:

The WHL Champion Moose Jaw Warriors visit the host Saginaw Spirit on Friday (4:30 p.m.) in the opening game of the 2024 Memorial Cup.

The other two teams in the four-team tournament, the OHL Champion London Knights and the QMJHL Champion Drummondville Voltigeurs face off on Saturday.

A WHL team has not won the Memorial Cup in 10 years since the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Guelph Storm in the 2014 final.

NHL: 

The NHL Eastern Conference Final begins tonight (Wednesday 5:00) with the Florida Panthers at the New York Rangers.

The Western Final opens tomorrow night at 5:30 in Dallas as the Stars host the Edmonton Oilers.

World Hockey:

The quarterfinals begin tomorrow (Thursday) at the World Hockey Championship in Czechia.

One of the matchups will have Canada against Slovakia (7:20 AM).

Canada, coming off a 4-3 overtime victory over Czechia, finished the preliminary round in top spot in Group A with a 7-0 record and 19 points based on five regulation wins and two overtime victories.
