Live music, vendors, and the Great Northern Chili Cook-Off.
It will all be a part of the Community Arts Council (CAC) and Trinity United Church’s Northern Hospitality Festival.
According to the CAC, the festival is the “culmination of Danny Bell’s year-long artist residency and our annual BC Gourmet Arts Festival.”
Bell is a musician who spent time secluded at Nukko Lake creating new sounds and songs which he will perform at one of the three concerts between Friday and Saturday (May 24 & 25).
Joining Danny Bell on stage will be Grande Maul, Britt AM, Saltwater Hank, Kym Gouchie, Big Fancy and Reckless Burning.
The festival will combine these three concerts with the 48th annual Great Northern Chili Cook-Off, hosted by the Potters Guild, on Saturday afternoon.
The Cook-Off sees 12 teams compete in the contest, those sampling the chili can do so after purchasing a hand-crafted bowl from the guild for $25.
The event also features numerous food-based vendors.
“This event is a unique blend of culinary and performing arts, bringing together local talent and community spirit,” said CAC Executive Director, Eli Klasner. “The Great Northern Chili Cook-Off is not just about the delicious chili; it’s about celebrating our local potters who handcraft the beautiful chili bowls that are eagerly collected by our supporters.”
“I’ve had such a great experience during this residency, having the opportunity to explore new techniques and being given dedicated space and time to write new material.” says Danny Bell. “I’m so excited to show the community what I’ve been working on during this residency. We’re playing a lot of new songs at Northern Hospitality Festival, and we get to do it alongside a great lineup of talented friends. And the Chili Cook-Off is the icing on the cake.”
