Green thumbs will unite at UNBC this long weekend.
The David Douglas Botanical Garden Society (DDBGS) is holding its annual plant sale in the university’s parking lot A on Sunday and Monday from 10:00 – 2:00.
Linda Naess, the President of the DDBGS, says the sale includes “shrubs, trees, perennials, herbs, and lots of vegetables.
“We have noticed a bit increase in people growing their own food, especially young people, which is really positive” she continued. “When I grew up everybody had a garden and we are starting to see a return to that.”
Some of the plants, namely saplings and shrubs, have been donated to the DDBGS by people downsizing gardens.
The DDBGS is a non-profit organization, they are in the process of building a 23 acre garden and green space at UNBC beside the residence buildings.
