J.T. Miller scored with 32 seconds left in the 3rd period to give the Canucks the dramatic victory and a 3-2 series lead. Game 6 will be played Saturday night (5:00) in Edmonton, with a 7th game, if needed Monday in Vancouver.

New York Rangers  5  Carolina  3

Chris Kreider had a third period natural hat trick as the Rangers overcame a 3-1 deficit after 40 minutes to win the series 4-2 and advance to the Eastern Conference Final.

There are a pair of NHL playoff games tonight (Friday): Florida at Boston (4:00) and Dallas at Colorado (7:00). The Panthers and Stars both lead 3-2.

(4-0) Canada will play its next preliminary round game Saturday (7:20 AM) against Finland.

Memorial Cup:

The four participants have been determined for the Memorial Cup which begins in one week (Friday, May 24th) in Saginaw, Michigan.

The tournament opener has the WHL Champion Moose Jaw Warriors against the host Saginaw Spirit.

The other participating teams are the OHL Champion London Knights and the QMJHL Champion Drummondville Voltigeurs.

A WHL team has not won the Memorial Cup in 10 years since the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Guelph Storm in the 2014 final.

The Warriors are representing the WHL for the first time after that four game sweep of the Portland Winterhawks in the league championship series.

The Warriors went 16-4 in the playoffs (8-2 both home and away) capped off with Wednesday’s 4-2 victory.

The Timberwolves and Nuggets are tied 3-3 with the 7th and deciding game to be played Sunday in Denver.
