Prince George City Council finalized the City’s budget and tax rate for 2024 at last night’s meeting.
The Community Charter section 165 requires a municipality to adopt a five-year financial plan bylaw, while section 197 requires that Council impose property taxes for the year by bylaw.
Those bylaws have to be passed before May 15th each year.
During budget talks in January, City Council ultimately landed on a 6.78 per cent tax increase for 2024.
The 6.78 per cent comes out to roughly $172.89 for the City’s representative household (valued at $460,049).
