WHL:

After a 3-day break, the WHL Western Conference Final resumes tonight (Monday) at 7:00 at CN Centre.

The Portland Winterhawks lead the Prince George Cougars 3-2.

If the Cougars win, it would force a 7th and deciding game, also in Prince George on Tuesday.

P.G. is coming off of that 6-1 victory Thursday in Portland.

In the WHL Eastern Conference Final, the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Saskatoon Blades 4-3 in overtime on Sunday to tie the series 3-3.

Five of the six games have been decided in OT, which ties a WHL record for most overtime games in one series.

The 2013 West Quarterfinal between Seattle and Kelowna also had five overtimes.

The 7th and deciding game will be played Tuesday in Saskatoon.

U-18 men’s hockey:

Canada won gold at the under-18 men’s world hockey championship in Finland.

Gavin McKenna of the Medicine Hat Tigers had a hat trick and added an assist to lead
Canada past the United States 6-4 in the championship game.

It is Canada’s fifth title since the tournament began 25 years ago.

NHL: (2 Stanley Cup playoff games)

The Stars won the series 4-3 to advance to the second round against the Colorado Avalanche starting Tuesday night (6:30) in Dallas.

New York Rangers  4  Carolina  3

The Rangers lead 1-0 with Game 2 Tuesday in New York.

There is one Stanley Cup playoff game tonight: Boston at Florida (5:00) in the opener of that second round series.

The Canucks will play the Edmonton Oilers in the second round beginning Wednesday night at 7:00.

PG Kodiaks football:

The Prince George Kodiaks junior football team has added Chris Szarka to its coaching staff under Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Jamie Boreham.

Szarka was a fullback for 13 years in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, earning a Grey Cup ring in 2007.

The Kodiaks hold their Spring Evaluation Camp this weekend (Friday to Sunday) with their annual Black and Gold Scrimmage Sunday afternoon at 1:00 at Masich Place Stadium.

Golf:

Canada’s Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ont. has won his first tournament on the PGA Tour.

The 32-year-old Pendrith scored a one-stroke victory over American Ben Kohles at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas.

On the final hole, a par-5 on the 18th, Pendrith scored a birdie while Kohles had a bogey.

The Cavs won the series 4-3 to advance to the 2nd round against the Celtics that will start Tuesday (4:00 p.m.) in Boston.

There are 2 NBA playoff games tonight: Indiana at New York (4:30) in the opener of that series and Minnesota at Denver (7:00). The Timberwolves lead the defending champion Nuggets 1-0.
