A thriller in Prince George Senior Lacrosse as the Cowboy Ranch/Regional Security Stylers nipped the Northland/Nissan Assault 17-16. Both teams are 2-3. The 7-0 Westwood Pub Devils are the only league team with a winning record.

–The two-day North Central Zone High School Track and Field meet wraps up Friday at Masich Place. Winners will qualify for the Provincials May 29 to 31 in Langley.

–For the third straight year, the Prince George Roadrunners will hold the Dick Voneugen Birthday fun run on Sunday. Voneugen turns 82. Participants can run as far as 82km starting from the Otway Ski Centre.

–The Super Truck Racing Series will take to the PGARA track on the weekend. 12 high-powered trucks from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan will race Saturday at 7pm and Sunday afternoon.

–The School District Wheelchair Basketball Championships will take place Friday at PGSS. The Intermediate division final game between DP Todd and PGSS is set for DP Todd Monday at 3.

–The Superior Fencing Reds of the Spruce City Men’s Fastball League play games Saturday and Sunday in Calihoo,
Alberta vs. some of the top teams in Northern Alberta.

–The Edmonton Oil Kings will play Val-D’or in the Memorial Cup semi-final Friday in London. The winner advances to Sunday’s championship game against the Guelph Storm.

–Prince George Spruce Kings GM Mike Hawes has agreed to a contract extension through the 2017/18 season.

–Finland scored twice in the third period to rally for a 3-2 victory over Canada in the quarter-finals at the World Hockey Championship in Belarus.

–Kelly Olynyk, who is from Kamloops and plays for the Boston Celtics, has been named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
