WHL:

Prince George Cougars  6  Portland Winterhawks  1 

The Western Conference Final will conclude in Prince George as the Winterhawks lead has been reduced to 3-2.

After giving up an early goal, Koehn Ziemmer gave the Cougars the lead with a pair of first period goals.

Hunter Laing, on a 2nd period power play, made it 3-1 after two.

Prince George added third period goals from Ondrej Becher, Borya Valis (on a penalty shot) and Keaton Dowhaniuk.

Winning goalie Josh Ravensbergen made 25 saves as P.G. outshot Portland 36-26.

Game 6 will be played Monday night at CN Centre with tickets going on sale this morning (Friday) at 11:00 on line and at the Cougars Box Office.

A 7th game, if needed, would go Tuesday in Prince George.

Mark Lamb of the Prince George Cougars has been named both the WHL Coach and Executive of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

The league has also named Josh Ravensbergen (with three shutouts) the Rookie of the Month for April.
