The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society says their Home Hospice program has been successful.
“We’ve been doing it now for a year, and we have seen remarkable success with this,” said Executive Director Donna Flood.
“We have allowed people that choose to die at home to die at home, and supported them and their loved ones.”
Flood said the program has reduced hospitalizations, creating savings for Northern Health:
- 551 Hospital days avoided
- 20 Calls to ambulance avoided
- Saved Northern Health $836,329
“Really it’s just a game changer for people in the community that want to die at home, can now die at home with support and care,” Flood said.
