Austin Road Elementary will soon be no more.
School District 57 has announced the old school, which was open for 43 years between 1967 and 2010, will soon be demolished.
A new daycare will be built in its place thanks to federal and provincial backing through the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund.
The old school building had been used by community groups since it shut down, but the District said the “aging infrastructure makes maintenance and repurposing too costly for permanent use.”
Demolition is set to begin midway through May and last until midway through August.
