The Prince George RCMP have made another dent in the drug trade in the northern capital.
On April 4th, the Prince George RCMP’s Problem-Oriented Policing team began an investigation into alleged drug trafficking at a residence on the 7100 block of Guelph Crescent.
Mounties say a resident of the home was seen leaving the area while driving a stolen vehicle during the investigation.
Officers stopped the vehicle and the driver, identified as 42-year-old James Alan Webb, was arrested.
While searching the vehicle after the arrest, police located four ounces of suspected illicit drugs, believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.
“A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at the residence, where investigators located further illicit drugs, believed to be methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and heroin, as well as over 1,700 M-ELSON (morphine) pills,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.
“The way that these [morphine pills] were located, we would be unable to unequivocally identify them as coming from diverted safer supply or other prescriptions.”
Cooper added a large quantity of ammunition and a fire arm were seized as well.
Webb was held for court and the following charges have been approved in this matter:
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000
- Operating a conveyance while prohibited
- Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Driving while prohibited x2
- Driving while suspended
According to police, and potential charges related to the drugs seized are pending further laboratory analysis, and are subject to approval by the appropriate Prosecution Service.
Webb will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
