New partnership keeps Groop Gallery open

Fans of art in Prince George took a blow when it was announced the Groop Gallery would be closing earlier this summer.

But thanks to a newfound partnership, its doors will stay open!

The Community Arts Council was talking to owner Melanie Desjardines about different ways they could keep the galley open.

The idea fell through, but CAC Board Member Philomena Hughes became enchanted with Groop after a CAC-related visit.

Desjardines and Hughes decided to work together to keep Groop up and running.

Both artists will be able to house their work at the gallery, but Desjardines will have more time to focus on her studio at home.

Groop will hold a special open house to celebrate on September 12th.
