UNBC’s Water and Sanitation Holistic Technologies (WASH-T) research group will be holding a public discussion on off-grid water solutions.
The event is called Building a Sustainable and Resilient Future in Small Communities with Decentralized and Holistic Water and Sanitation Solutions.
“We’re going to have a very powerful panel,” said UNBC Masters Student and member of WASH-T Nella Hernandez.
“We have two experts in water and sanitation solutions, they have wide experience in the implementation of these types of off-grid technologies.”
Hernandez said these off-grid systems are implemented in houses, and are not connected to centralized water and sanitation networks.
“These systems have some benefits, they offer adaptability, they are cost-effective, they have lower footprints,” she explained.
“Compared to conventional designs, they can have high investment cost, but the operational and maintenance cost can be as much as ten times lower than traditional technologies.”
The event will be held at the Two Rivers Gallery on Wednesday from 5:00pm to 7:00
