WHL:

Less than 1,000 tickets are left for each of the Prince George Cougars home games this week.

The Cougars, riding a 13-game winning streak, host the Kelowna Rockets on Friday and Saturday in the first two games of their Western Conference semifinal series.

The series will shift to Kelowna for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, April 16th and 17th.

Andrew Cristall and Tij Iginla had three points each for the Rockets who won the series 4-2.

Everett  5  Vancouver  0

Tyler Palmer made 25 saves for the shutout as the Silvertips won the series 4-1.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings did not score a goal in the first two games of their first-round playoff series against the Penticton Vees. The Vees won both by a 3-0 score. Games 3 and 4 will be played in PG on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The (47-22-8) Vancouver Canucks, coming off the 6-3 loss to L.A. on Saturday, host the Vegas Golden Knights tonight (Monday) at 7:00.

Vancouver leads the Pacific-Division by three points over (47-24-5) Edmonton.

The Canucks have five regular season games remaining and the Oilers have six.

The only other Monday game in the NHL has Pittsburgh at Toronto.

Kodiaks football:

The Prince George Kodiaks of the BC Football Conference have announced a broadcasting agreement with Vista Radio.

The Kodiaks 10-game regular season will be broadcast on Country97 FM.

They play their opener at Masich Place Stadium on July 20th against the Vancouver Island Raiders.

Curling:

Canada’s Brad Gushue finished with the silver medal for the 3rd straight year and 4th time overall at the World Men’s Curling Championship.

Gushue, from St. John’s, N.L., lost the final 6-5 to Niklas Edin of Sweden in Switzerland.

“For the fourth time, silver sucks,” Gushue said in an interview with TSN.

Edin won his seventh world title, a record for a skip.

Canada beat Scotland 9-4 in the semifinal.

Italy outscored Scotland 7-6 in the bronze medal game.
