The City of Prince George has spent roughly $4.5 million of the City’s snow control levy so far this year.
“We’re tremendously proud of the snow removal services the City does each year, this winter was certainly an unusual one, and we’ve been able to start our sweeping and cleaning earlier than usual, and our work on fixing potholes,” said Manager of Roads and Fleet Jordan Wiseman in an emailed statement.
“Without knowing what the rest of the year has in store, it is too early to know what the total budget will look like come December 31st.”
During budget deliberations in January, the snow levy was set at $10.3 million for 2024.
Since January 1st, there have been three priority snow events in the city, in which more than 12 cm of snow fell in a 24 hour period.
Approximately 8,600 truckloads of snow were taken to the City’s four snow dumps this year.
