REAPS says tidying the house, gardening key components to spring cleaning

With the weather warming up and the snow pretty much non-existent in Prince George, now is a good time for residents to get a head start on their spring cleaning.

Terri McClymont with REAPS told MyPGNow.com that most of your tidying up for this time of year usually starts and ends within your own home.

“Think about your shower, tub or toilet, windows and, sinks and, also get into the habit of purging your unwanted items. Go through all of your stuff and divide it into items that go to the trash or might have a garage sale with or donating pile.”

“Look at your rain gutters, empty your rain gutters. Think about caulking, check your windows to see if it has to be re-done – also the inside to such as your bath or sink such as faucets, are they leaking inside or out and, look for leaks in your toilet.”

She mentioned there is one other popular activity that will go a long way in reducing your carbon footprint.

“Thinking about making vegetable garden or a pollinator garden. A garden has many benefits, it saves you money, it can be pest-free, helps to reduce stress, gives you some exercise and, helps you re-enjoy nature as well.”

McClymont adds if you are outdoors and plan to go for a walk, to take a litter bag with you to help beautify your surroundings.

The City of Prince George’s spring cleanup event usually occurs in late April.
