Government seeking new rescue options for animals in hot vehicles

The government has made it clear, hot dogs, and hot cars do not mix.

Plans to consult with the BC SPCA, the College of Veterinarians, and local police services are in motion, seeking to increase rescue options for animals left in hot vehicles.

North Cariboo SPCA Branch Manager Jamie Walsh isn’t quite sure why a potential $75,000 fine and 2 year prison sentence isn’t resonating with pet owners:

“Well I’m not sure, I think that people have well intentions. The hot dog calls that I’ve got have actually been people who think that bringing their animal with them is better than leaving them in a hot house, and they don’t always know differently.”

These new consultations are scheduled to take place in the fall, with any additional changes or methods scheduled to be in effect by Spring 2016.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
