WorkSafeBC fines local construction company $60,000

Ruskin Construction has been fined $60,849.07 after a worker was injured on a bridge construction site.

According to WorkSafeBC, a crane truck hit and injured an employee as it was leaving the bridge.

Their investigation determined “there were no designated walkways or safe work areas separating pedestrians and mobile equipment, and no speed limits or safe work procedures had been put in place to ensure worker safety.”

WorkSafe said it was a repeat violation, and there was no “effective means” of protecting people who went through the hazardous area.

The fine was imposed on December 20th and was last updated at the end of February.
