Five Special Olympics BC athletes from Prince George competed nationally in Calgary from Wednesday to Saturday.
David Dunn, Marinka Van Hage, Lance Pattinson, Sam Russell, and Spencer Rourke, represented Team BC at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in three different sports.
In snowshoeing, Dunn earned a gold in the 1600m, a silver in the 4x100m relay, and he finished fifth in the 400m and 800m.
Van Hage also in snowshoeing, captured a silver medal in the 400m and 4x100m relay plus
finished fifth in the 100m, and sixth in the 200m.
Pattinson competed in five-pin bowling with the Dawson Creek team and came 5th in singles and 7th in team action.
Russell and Rourke were a part of the Quesnel Fury Curling team that gained experience while not winning a game.
In total, British Columbia won 54 golds, 45 silvers, and 36 bronzes.
