The fifth-year post player put the UNBC Timberwolves on his back when it mattered most posting a 22 point effort in a dramatic 84-78 victory over the Manitoba Bisons on Thursday in the men’s Canada West quarter-final.

UNBC now advances to play the top-ranked Victoria Vikes on Saturday (4 PM PT) in Winnipeg.
After falling behind 27-19 at the end of the first quarter, the T-Wolves regained composure and pulled themselves back on even terms at halftime (42-42).
Darren Hunter proved crucial again in the sixth-man role tallying 14 points in 21 minutes of action.
UNBC took the game over in the fourth thanks to some Bison foul trouble leading to a 24-15 run. The Timberwolves converted on 46% of their field goals while Manitoba lived and died with the three-ball, going a chilly 8-for-39.

Justin Sunga, Josh Gillespie and Evgeny Baukin also reached double-digit points for the Timberwolves.
Manitoba weas led by workhorse veterans Darren Watts and Simon Hildebrand posting 20 and 23 points respectively in defeat.
Hildebrand was the first overall pick in last year’s Canadian Elite Basketball League’s U-SPORTS draft by his hometown Winnipeg Sea Bears.
He played in 21 games for the Sea Bears making 25 three-pointers while averaging over six points per game along with 3.5 rebounds.
The other Canada West semi-final will feature the Winnipeg Wesmen against the Calgary Dinos.
