Prince George Cougars 5 Seattle Thunderbirds 1 (Tuesday)
The Cougars scored three times in the first period and went on to win their 6th straight home game before 2,359 fans at CN Centre.
Prince George has moved into first place in the Western Conference, a point ahead of the (37-18-2-2) Everett Silvertips and two in front of the (37-14-2-1) Portland Winterhawks.
Zac Funk scored twice, including his team-record 23rd power-play goal.
Funk leads the WHL in goals with 53 which is one shy of the PG Cougars team record of 54 set by Quinn Hancock in the 1997-98 season.
Both Funk and teammate Riley Heidt are tied for the WHL scoring lead with 95 points.

The (13-26-3) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (25-16-1) Vernon Vipers Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.
With 12 regular season games remaining, Prince George is last in the 8-team Interior Division, seven points behind the (16-22-3-1) Merritt Centennials.

BC Elite Hockey League:
The U18 Cariboo Cougars conclude their BC Elite Hockey League regular season with a doubleheader against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds on Saturday night at 5:30 and Sunday at noon in Abbotsford.
The (26-6-2) U18 Cougars, who have won six straight, are in third place, six points behind the (28-4-2-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs and three points back of the (28-5-1) Thunderbirds.

Canada West basketball:
The 12th-ranked UNBC Timberwolves will play the #5 UBC Thunderbirds in an elimination game tonight (Wednesday) at 6:00 in Winnipeg in the men’s Canada West basketball playoffs.
The winner will advance to face the #4 ranked hosts from Manitoba on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
During the 2023-24 regular season, the TWolves split their two home matchups with UBC.

The 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is taking place this week in Calgary.
A total of 18 teams are playing a complete eight-game round-robin within their pools.
From there, the top three teams in each pool advance to the playoffs.
