Well over a thousand shoeboxes packed in Prince George have been delivered to deserving kids in struggling countries around the world.
Samaritan’s Purse, which runs the annual Operation Christmas Child campaign, reports 1,331 shoeboxes were donated from BC’s northern capital last year – a 13% increase over 2022.
53,945 shoeboxes were collected from across the province, a 3% increase from 2022.
Canada packed 425,209 shoeboxes, and Operation Christmas Child collected a whopping 11,330,126 shoebox gifts from around the world.
“We are thrilled to see the enthusiastic participation of Canadians in Operation Christmas Child,” said Kendra Shields, Operation Christmas Child’s Canadian director. “It is very encouraging to know that so many generous people want to give hope and joy to children in need around the world.”
Physical shoebox donations are only accepted in November, but you can pack a box virtually at any time. You can learn more here.
