WHL:
The (32-14-0-2) Prince George Cougars wrap up a 5-game road trip tonight (Friday) in Langley against the (20-24-3) Vancouver Giants.
The Cougars’ other weekend game will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00 when they host the last-place Kamloops Blazers.
Prince George is second in the Western Conference, a point behind the (32-15-1-2) Everett Silvertips and one point ahead of the (31-12-2-1) Portland Winterhawks.

BCHL:
The (12-20-3) Prince George Spruce Kings host the Cranbrook Bucks tonight at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.
The Spruce Kings, with 19 regular season games left, are last in the 8-team Interior Division, three points behind the (13-19-3-1) Merritt Centennials and five back of the (15-22-2) Bucks.

Five Alberta Junior Hockey League franchises, including the 3-time defending champion Brooks Bandits, have officially joined the BCHL and will begin play tonight.
Those five teams will play each other for the rest of the season with the winner meeting the champion from B.C.

BC Elite Hockey League:
The U18 Cariboo Cariboo host the (6-19-2-1) Greater Vancouver Canadians this morning at 10:30 at the Kopar Memorial Arena and Saturday morning at 9:00 at CN Centre in the BC Elite Hockey League.
With six games remaining in their regular season, the (22-6-2) U18 Cougars are in second place, two points behind the (22-4-2-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs and one point ahead of the (22-5-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.
The Canadians are 7th in the 9-team league.

NHL:
The Kings have fired Todd McLellan and named Jim Hiller as the interim coach for the remainder of the season.

All NHL teams have now reached their All-Star Break.
The (33-11-5) Vancouver Canucks will play their next game on Tuesday at Carolina to begin a 5-game road trip.
It will be the first game in a Vancouver uniform for forward Elias Lindholm.
He was acquired from the Calgary Flames in return for forward Andrei Kuzmenko, two prospects (Hunter Brzustewicz, and Joni Jurmo) a first-round pick in this year’s NHL draft and a conditional fourth-round pick.
The Canucks have the best record in the Western Conference and are tied with the (31-9-9) Boston Bruins for the top record in the NHL.
Vancouver is riding an 11-game point streak.

The Edmonton Oilers put their 16-game win streak on the line Tuesday at Vegas.
The Oilers are one shy of the NHL record of 17 set by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins.

Canada West basketball:
The UNBC Timberwolves are in Langley to play the Trinity Western University (TWU) Spartans tonight and Saturday night in Canada West basketball.
The Timberwolves will conclude their regular season with home games against the Saskatchewan Huskies on Feb. 9th and 10th.
UNBC has a record of 8-8 for the men and 4-12 for the women.
TWU is 2-14 (men) and 10-6 (women).
Saskatchewan is 8-8 (men) and 16-0 (women).

The (17-30) Toronto Raptors continue a 6-game road trip this evening (at 5:00) against the (22-25) Rockets in Houston.

The Washington Commanders’ new head coach is Dan Quinn who was the Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator.

The San Francisco 49ers remain slight 1.5-point favourites to win Super Bowl 58 against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Feb 11th in Las Vegas.
The Chiefs will appear in their 4th Super Bowl in the last five seasons.
