The (32-14-0-2) Prince George Cougars conclude a 5-game road trip Friday in Langley against the (20-24-3) Vancouver Giants.

Prince George is second in the Western Conference, a point behind the (32-15-1-2) Everett Silvertips and a point ahead of the (31-12-2-1) Portland Winterhawks.

The Cougars are coming off a 5-2 Tuesday victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds.

NHL:

A big trade for the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks acquired forward Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames in return for forward Andrei Kuzmenko, two prospects (Hunter Brzustewicz, and Joni Jurmo) a first-round pick in this year’s NHL draft and a conditional fourth-round pick.

The (33-11-5) Canucks will play their next game on Tuesday at Carolina to begin a 5-game road trip.

Vancouver has the best record in the Western Conference and is tied with the (31-9-9) Boston Bruins for the top record in the NHL.

The Canucks, riding an 11-game point streak, have the league-best goal differential at +59.

The Edmonton Oilers put their 16-game win streak on the line Tuesday at Vegas.

BCHL: 

The Prince George Spruce Kings are down to their last 19 regular season games, eight at home and 11 on the road.

The (12-20-3) Spruce Kings host the Cranbrook Bucks on Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

Prince George is last in the 8-team Interior Division, three points behind the (13-19-3-1) Merritt Centennials and five back of the (15-22-2) Bucks.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The U18 Cariboo Cariboo host the (6-19-2-1) Greater Vancouver Canadians Friday morning at 10:30 at the Kopar Memorial Arena and Saturday morning at 9:00 at CN Centre in the BC Elite Hockey League.

With six games remaining in their regular season, the (22-6-2) U18 Cougars are in second place, two points behind the (22-4-2-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs and one point ahead of the (22-5-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

The Canadians are 7th in the 9-team league.

Canada West basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves will play in Langley against the Trinity Western University (TWU) Spartans on Friday and Saturday night in Canada West basketball.

The Timberwolves will conclude their regular season with home games against the Saskatchewan Huskies on Feb. 9th and 10th.

UNBC has a record of 8-8 for the men and 4-12 for the women.

TWU is 2-14 (men) and 10-6 (women).

Saskatchewan is 8-8 (men) and 16-0 (women).

The (17-30) Toronto Raptors continue a 6-game road trip Friday night (at 5:00) against the (22-25) Rockets in Houston.

NFL: 

At age 36, Mike MacDonald has become the youngest head coach in the NFL after signing a six-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

MacDonald had been the Baltimore Ravens Defensive Coordinator.

The San Francisco 49ers remain slight 1.5-point favourites to win Super Bowl 58 against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Feb 11th in Las Vegas.

The Chiefs will appear in their 4th Super Bowl in the last five seasons.
