For the third time this month, local emergency crews have responded to an incident in Moccasin Flats.
This time, Prince George Firefighters extinguished an outbuilding fire in the area of 5th Avenue and Ottawa Street just before 5 o’clock this morning (Thursday).
Once on scene, two crews found one of the donated tiny homes to be fully engulfed in flames.
There were no injuries to residents or firefighters.
Damage is estimated at $2,500 and the file is currently under investigation.
In addition, the Prince George RCMP also have two active investigations open regarding a pair of shootings in the area that sent two people to hospital for treatment of injuries.
On Monday, Mounties received a report of a man with a gunshot wound on the 500-block of Fourth Avenue.
Police officers immediately attend the area and determined the shooting had taken place inside the homeless encampment. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On January 5th, police attended the 500 block of Ottawa Street where they discovered a man suffering from a serious gunshot wound. No charges have been laid and that file remains open.
