The community is trying to help a mom get back on her feet after losing everything in a house fire.
Less than 24 hours after the blaze, a GoFundMe page has raised more than $500, and a fundraiser has been set up for Tessa Morgan and her children.
“She lost mostly everything, and everything they haven’t lost has been smoke damaged, so you can consider it a write-off,” says fundraiser volunteer Derek Andrew, “She’s currently looking for anything for household items, as well as for her children. She’s got a 3-year-old son who is a size 3, and her daughter is age 7 and a size 8.”
Andrew and the Westwood Pub have designated the pub parking lot as a drop-off zone for any items people wish to donate.
Volunteers will be on hand with trucks to store the items on Thursday, August 13, between 5pm and 8pm.
A pick-up service is also available for people who wish to donate.
Derek Andrew is spearheading the pick-ups, and can be reached via Facebook, or at 250-613-2713.
“Facebook has been fantastic. On Hell Yeah PG I’ve had quite a few texts, emails, and personal messages,” says Andrew, “Menchies has offered to give a $100 visa and some gift cards… Quite a few people are looking to donate.”
