The BC United Party has announced their Resource Prosperity Plan, which they say is designed to create jobs, boost paycheques, and maximize BC’s natural resource advantage in addressing climate change.
“With our abundant natural resources, BC should be an absolute powerhouse,” said BC United Leader Kevin Falcon.
“Clean electricity should be powering BC’s extraction of critical metals and minerals and other resources that the whole world needs as it transitions to a cleaner future.”
BC United’s plan outlined five initiatives they would immediately pursue if elected:
- Massive investment in clean power projects, transmission, and electrification
- Accelerate project reviews and permitting
- Cancel Carbon Tax increases
- Aggressively market BC’s low-carbon economy to help reduce global Greenhouse Gas emissions
- Create an Indigenous loan guarantee program to enable participation in natural resource projects
“A program that would provide loan guarantees for First Nations, so they can come forward and be genuine equity partners in natural resource projects and non-natural resource projects that would provide their nations with the opportunity to participate as full partners, full equal partners in opportunities to fuel our future,” Falcon said.

Falcon also said they would move the entire Ministry of Forests to Prince George.
“I want the decision makers to be right here in Prince George that understand the decisions they make have an impact on these communities,” Falcon explained.
“It’s partly sending a message and it’s partly very practical, I want people that are here that are committed to the communities, that understand the unique varieties of different communities and what the impact of their decisions is going to have.”
The next provincial election will happen on or before October 19th, 2024.
