VH Fall Fair promises excitement

The Nechako Valley Exhibition Society is going all out to ensure the 48th annual Fall Fair is unforgettable.

Organizers have worked year-round to bring in some jaw-dropping new acts.

“We’re bringing in the Northwest Lumberjack Show… Lumberjack athletes demonstrating many of the skills that were used in the lumberjack industry years ago, so there’s log rolling and pole-climbing and lots of chainsaw stuff going on,” explains organizer Carol Anne Shearer, “We’re also bringing in the mechanical bulls. People want to test their rodeo skills, so the bulls will be there on Saturday, and it’s just a fun thing. We’re bringing in the big bull for the adults and a baby bull for the younger kids.”

Kids will also get to rock some mini-putt and try their hand at mutton busting.

Of course, the fair wouldn’t be complete without the classic 4H auction.

“These young people raise their cow or their sheep or their pig for a full year, and then they bring it to the fair to show it off and sell it,’ says Shearer, “The 4H auction and the 4H activities are something that really forms the backbone of the fair.”

A weekend pass for an adult costs $25, a student or senior weekend pass is $7, and a family pass will run you $60.

Day passes are also available, and the fair runs from August 21st to the 23rd.
