The UNBC Timberwolves basketball teams escaped the frigid Prince George temperatures only to stay ice-cold in the Prairies.
It was a forgettable weekend on the road for the T-Wolves who dropped all four games against the Regina Cougars in Canada West men’s and women’s basketball action.

On the women’s side, an 80-56 loss on Friday was followed up by a 73-51 defeat on Saturday.
In the first game of the double-header, Regina paced out to a 32-16 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
Kiana Wiens posted a game-high 17 points for the Cougars while Sveta Boykova was one of the few bright spots in defeat for UNBC with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The big difference in the game was the contrast in three-point shooting. Regina went lived and died from beyond the arc, going 12-for-27 while the Timberwolves were a chilly 3-for-18.
On Saturday, another sluggish start proved costly falling behind 28-12 to the Cougars after the opening 10 minutes.
Jade Belmore had an efficient night for the Cougars (8-4) hooping 21 points in 25 minutes of action. Rebecca Landry heated up for UNBC going 8-for-13 on field goals earning 16 points in the loss (2-10).
Regina outrebounded UNBC on the glass by a 45-24 margin and scored 34 points off 25 T-Wolves turnovers.
In men’s action, the Timberwolves dropped a 77-54 decision on Friday followed by a hard-fought 74-65 defeat on Saturday.
Lodie Kenyi led the way for the Cougars with 16 points in 21 minutes of action. Spencer Ledoux tallied 16 points in a losing cause for UNBC.
In a game that saw eight-lead changes, it was a 24-10 Cougars run in the third quarter that did UNBC in.

On Saturday, the Timberwolves fell behind 28-19 after the first quarter and were forced to play catch-up the rest of the way.
Matt Barnard proved to be the X-factor for Regina with a 28-point effort including an 11-for-15 showing on field goals.
Spencer Ledoux and Chris Ross each had 15 points for UNBC while Josh Gillespie never came off the floor playing all 40 minutes, notching 11 points.
Regina (10-2) was considerably better from three-point range going 9-for-20 while the Timberwolves (6-6) only mustered four treys on 18 opportunities.
Both varsity teams return to the Northern Sports Centre on Friday and Saturday hosting the UBC Thunderbirds.
