Spruce Kings split a pair of road games prior to lengthy layoff

Not even a day of rest between games was enough for the Prince George Spruce Kings to sweep a road double header.

A pair of goals from Judah Makway along with singles from Ridge Dawson and Ethan Warrener paced the Trail Smoke Eaters to a 4-1 win over the Spruce Kings in BCHL action on Sunday from the Cominco Arena.

Both teams decided to take the opening 20 minutes to get to know each other electing not to light the lamp.

Makway opened the scoring for Trail at the 4:01 mark of the second, assisted by Warrener and Mathieu Cobetto-Roy.

Linden Makow attempted to ignite a second-consecutive comeback for PG by scoring shorthanded at 7:39 of the third period to trim the deficit to 2-1.

The Smoke Eaters outshot the Spruce Kings (12-18-3-0) 36-29, while also going 1-for-2 on the power-play.

Ryan Parker picked up the 28 save victory in goal for Trail (15-12-6-0), while Charlie Zolin made 32 stops in defeat.

On Friday, you could say world-renowned magician David Copperfield sprinkled some magic dust on the blades of the Spruce Kings sticks in the third period against the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Skogen Schrott and Alexis Cournoyer strike twice 31 seconds apart while Kilian McGregor-Bennett completed the comeback at 2:20 of overtime to cap off the 4-3 victory.

Matt Argentina and McGregor-Bennett each scored to begin the Friday night clash at 1-1.

The Chiefs pulled ahead 3-1 after 40 minutes of play courtesy of Caleb Elfring and a power-play marker from star blueliner, Brian Morse.

PG outshot Chilliwack 32-30 while both teams went 1-for-4 on the man advantage.
