Homeless shelters likely to see increased foot traffic during PG cold snap

With Prince George stuck in its first deep freeze of the winter, it’s pretty much a guarantee our homeless shelters will be in high demand.

BC Housing has listed the locations where some of our most vulnerable can access during this time:

  • Active Support Against Poverty (6th Avenue)
  • Association Advocating for Women and Community (AWAC), (144 George Sreet)
  • Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC), Men 19+ (140 Quebec Street)
  • PGNFC, All Clients 19+ (1151 2nd Avenue)

Other locations people can access include:

  • Ketso Yoh men’s shelter (160 Quebec Street)
  • Reconnect Youth Village (Youth drop-in centre on 171 George Street)
  • Shepherd’s Corner (temporary day-time shelter on 1204-2nd Avenue)

Environment Canada is anticipating a high of –21 degrees today (Wednesday) and a low of –30. Tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday will be even chillier during the day with highs of –28 and –29 respectively.

An Extreme Cold Warning was issued this morning (Wednesday) by Environment Canada.
