Update: BCR site fire ignited on large pile of debris

Update: 9:35 p.m.

The City of Prince George has confirmed the BCR site fire ignited on a pile of debris that was about 100 x 50 feet large.

In total, nine firefighters and four apparatus responded to the fire, and work to fully extinguish it will last late into the night.

At its peak, the city said the fire was up to 50 feet high.

There is no risk of the fire spreading, and there were no injuries reported.

There was a large fire in the BCR site at 7177 Pacific Street this evening.

Little is known about the fire’s cause or severity yet, but it was visible from College Heights, across the river.
